September 2011 - We Are Blessed

Pastor’s Pondering
How awesome is our God!!!  He is great!  He is mighty!  He is merciful!  He is beautiful!  If everyone could see the Lord Jesus Christ in glory, majesty and beauty, no one would ever abuse His name in a derogatory way.
How blessed we are to know Him!  How blessed we are to be able to have relationship with Him!  How blessed we are to have Him dwelling within us!
Ok, I know that there are a lot of exclamation points in this so far, but isn’t this worth shouting about?  My heart is so full of an awareness of God’s blessing.  Often the  perspective we gain in the world is one of being cursed instead of blessed.  A man named Korah had some sons that gained so great an understanding of this that they wrote a song.  Part of it goes like this:
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
         They will still be praising You.  Selah
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
         Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
         They make it a spring;
         The rain also covers it with pools.
They go from strength to strength;
         Each one appears before God in Zion.
Psalm 84:4-7
For those who are in school or have children in school, we are entering a new year.  The Jewish New Year is also in this month.  Often it is how you enter something that gives great direction to the outcome of that same thing.  If you enter setting your mind on the negative, then you often arrive where you thought you would.  We call these mindsets.  The things we set our minds on.  I would encourage you to set your mind on things above (Colossians 3:2) and on how greatly blessed we truly are (see also Philippians 4:8-9).
Journeying with you in the joy of the Lord,
Pastor Merril
